Home Remedies for Varicose Veins and Your Options

Since more than half of the world’s population will develop spider veins on their legs, natural treatment options are becoming increasingly popular to alleviate symptoms and make the skin look more aesthetically appealing. While there is no known “cure” for varicose veins, several home remedies have been shown to help with this blood vessel disorder.

Spider Veins v. Varicose Veins

Some people assume that spider veins and varicose veins are the same thing. While that may be true to some degree, it is not generally accepted by the medical community. The two are caused in much of the same way, but the terms are used to describe the severity of the condition.

Spider veins tend to be dark blue or purple blood vessels just underneath the skin and are not painful. Veins that have become varicose are often swelled up and protrude out from the skin a bit. Furthermore, these veins tend to cause some pain and irritation to the person’s skin.

I’ve recently found a great source of information regarding a varicose veins natural treatments and it’s where a lot of the information on this blog comes from. I highly recommend you check it out for further resources.

Known Natural Treatments for Varicose Veins

There are quite a few claims on the internet as to which herbal home remedies help relieve some of the symptoms of varicose veins, yet there is no conclusive evidence as to which is the most effective across all instances.

Before trying natural treatments for varicose veins, I highly recommend that you check out what the active ingredient is. For instance, there are several spider vein treatment creams on the market that are nothing but cocoa butter and aloe vera extract. Do you seriously think that this combination is going to help? My guess is, probably not.

The Unofficial List of Home Remedies for Spider Veins

Horse Chestnut
Apple Cider Vinegar
Ginkgo Biloba
Witch Hazel
Cayenne Pepper
Gotu Kola
Mustard Oil
Butcher’s Broom
Vitamin C
B Vitamins
Vitamin E

While many of the herbal home remedies listed aren’t “cures” in and of themselves, used in  the right combination, several people have found relief. I have also found that the use of compression stockings helps ease some of the pain and tension at night. Also, when combining these socks with apple cider vinegar and the right cream, there’s a great potential for complete relief.

Don’t just take my word for it though, try it for yourself.
